Building on the existing literature on gender differences in competition (Niederle and Vesterlund, 2007) and on creativity (Charness and Grieco, 2019, 2025), we experimentally investigate whether the introduction of AI writing support affects subjects’ performance and their willingness to engage in a competitive remuneration scheme in creative tasks. We also examine how subjects interact with the AI while completing their creative writing task.
